Harnessing the Power of Stories
Learning through lived experience
Seanchaí (shan-a-key) were traditional Irish storytellers. The Seanchaí is an important link in Irish cultural heritage and continues to play a dominant role in the oral tradition, bringing old stories to life.
The Seanchaí Collective is a not for profit organisation, we believe in the transformative nature of storytelling. Our commitment is to celebrating lived experiences, combining the spirit of the Seanchaí with modern day experiences.
People come to harm when they are not listened to or ignored and change comes too late or worse still, never at all. With expertise in participation and co-production using our lived experience we offer unique training opportunities and workshops.
If you have lived, you have a story to tell.

Learning from lived experience
The Seanchaí Collective place lived experience at the centre of all learning, there's no better expert than those who have lived it.

Making 'never again' a reality
The time for change is now - too often organisations and large institutions fail to act on what they hear.
The Seanchaí Collective want 'never again' to mean exactly that.

Making a difference
Getting your story to the right audience is the key to effecting lasting change.
Our creative associates
Seanchaí Associate Creatives are a group of committed volunteers who have worked with us to shape our first story.
The Seanchaí Collective have commissioned a group of Coventry based creatives to work on the telling of our first story, the story of Message to Margaret.

'Inár gCroí go deo' tells the story of the family of Margaret Keane, an Irish family based in Coventry who were denied an Irish only inscription on Margaret's headstone by a Church of England Consistory Court. The team are working towards launch March 2026.
We are working with Keith Allott of Badshoes film on the feature length documentary of the story of the court case, the landmark victory, the impact on the Irish language in Britain and the campaign inspiring the Fontaines DC.
